A growing share of US husbands and wives are roughly the same age



The age difference between U.S. spouses has shrunk over 20 years. In 2022, the average gap was 2.2 years, down from 2.4 years in 2000. This analysis, using U.S. Census data, shows a continuing trend toward age-similar marriages.
