May sees significant decline in housing starts

Single-family housing starts fell below one million, with total starts declining nearly 20% from last year. The latest report from the U.S. Census Bureau and HUD shows a 5.5% monthly drop in total housing starts to 1.277 million. Single-family starts decreased to 982,000.
