Small business retail sales growth slows in May 2024

Small business sales rose 4.3% year-over-year in May 2024 but remained flat from April 2024. Foot traffic increased 5.2% year-over-year. Nationally, retail spending stayed flat with a 0.7% rise in transactions. Food & beverage saw a 2.1% spending rise, with small gains in clothing, sporting goods and health/personal care.
