Radio Mercury Awards Announces Call for Entry Date for 30th Anniversary

BBDO Atlanta’s Robin Fitzgerald Returns as 2021 Chief Judge

NEW YORK – May 18, 2021 – The Radio Mercury Awards are proud to announce that Call for Entry for the 30th anniversary event will open on June 7, 2021.

For 30 years, the Radio Mercury Awards have celebrated creative excellence in radio and audio, by honoring work that successfully harnesses the power of sound. In 2021, the Radio Mercury Awards reflect the current advertising environment for radio and related audio platforms, including broadcast commercials, integrated campaigns, podcasts, PSAs, jingles, sonic branding and music.

Beginning this year, all entries will be open to work in any language for work that was broadcast, aired digitally, released or transmitted initially and primarily in the U.S. and its territories between June 1, 2019 and August 9, 2021. Entries will be priced at $30 for all categories, except for entries for the student category, which will be free.

Robin Fitzgerald, chief creative officer, BBDO Atlanta, will return as the 2021 Chief Judge after serving in the same role in 2020. In her role as BBDO Atlanta’s chief creative officer, Robin provides creative leadership to a number of clients, including The Home Depot, Georgia Lottery, Sanderson Farms and Honey Baked Ham, among others.

Prior to BBDO Atlanta, Robin spent 15 years in Los Angeles, working at Crispin Porter + Bogusky and TBWA\Chiat\Day, for clients such as Gatorade, Visa, Energizer, Nissan (TBWA), Netflix, Old Navy, Grey Poupon and PayPal (Crispin). She has been named one of Business Insider's “Most Creative People in Social Media Marketing" and one of the “Most Creative Women in Advertising." Her work has been recognized in many industry awards shows, and she has participated on juries for the Radio Mercury Awards, D&AD, One Show, Clios, Art Director's Club and New York Festivals.

“It’s an honor to be brought back again as this year’s Chief Judge,” noted Robin Fitzgerald. “Last year, we awarded work that rose to the challenge and this year, I eagerly anticipate hearing work that showcases what’s currently happening creatively in radio and audio.”

“We are delighted to have Robin join us as Chief Judge for a second year in a row, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the show,” noted Mike Hulvey, chief operating officer and vice president, Neuhoff Media and chair, RAB board. “We look forward to honoring the heritage of the past and honoring the creative excellence of the future.”

Finalists for the show will be announced in late September, and winners will be announced on November 17, 2021.
